ABOUT THE STUDENT CHAPTER
The UCLA Extension Student Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects (SCASLA) was established to “enable students of landscape architecture to have the opportunity to participate in organized activities outside the academic sphere which would improve skills and knowledge, and complement the curriculum at UCLA Extension.”
All currently enrolled students in the Landscape Architecture program at UCLA Extension are eligible to participate in the activities sponsored and organized by SCASLA, including the annual Student Show and Awards Ceremony, our professional lecture series, workshops, field trips, and other events.
At this time of year, we hold elections for officers and class representatives for the coming academic year. I strongly encourage all students to consider running for a position and/or nominating your fellow classmate(s) for roles as Class Representatives and Officers.
The time commitment for SCASLA reps and officers is what you make it. Generally, we have monthly meetings on campus to organize events throughout the year. In addition to being an impressive addition to your resume, SCASLA reps and officers network regularly with fellow students from our program and others, alumni, professionals in the field, and members of ASLA, in other words, the very people who might one day offer you an internship or job. Also it’s just a lot of fun.
On behalf of the Officers and Class Reps of SCASLA, I’d like to thank you all for your participation and support over the past year. I have had such a blast working with/for you.
President, UCLA Extension Student Chapter of ASLA (American Society of Landscape Architects).
